Features
For Institutions and Administrators
Working with institutions large and small
Timetabler 6 is designed to fit into any institution -
large or small. With its SQL databases and N-tier technology it
doesn’t
matter whether you have one user or hundreds, Timetabler will
still provide an easily maintainable, stable and flexible solution.
And since Timetabler is able to deal with as many individual
staff, rooms, students and resources as you have you will be able
to timetable for your whole campus with confidence.
Indeed, Timetabler makes it easy for you to deal with multiple site institutions. By taking account of travel times between sites when checking for clashes in a timetable staff and students are never expected to be in two places at once and have time to travel from one site to another.
Meanwhile, Web Server and Client make the software accessible across your institution, allowing web access to core features from your internet browser.
Room Booker allows you to extend Timetabler’s usefulness by providing a convenient web access system for managing booking for individual rooms and conference suites. Click here to learn more.
Administrator
Timetabler gives you the tools to manage your users and timetables. Separate Administrator software allows a central administrator to create and determine user roles and access rights, meaning a range of people can access databases with a range of rights from full rights across the board or specifically to a particular department, to view only rights for particular rooms or modules. This makes Timetabler flexible enough to fulfil a number of roles within your institution from a central timetabling tool, to a departmental or student room booking tool, to a means of viewing timetables for courses or equipment lists for room setups. It also allows you to track activity and control access to databases – an important administrative tool.
It uses LDAP and Active Directory to manage user names and passwords, and has a permanent Log Viewer with a comprehensive audit trail of alterations with a record of who has made changes, making it easy to find and solve problems.
Timetabler Administrator puts you in control of your timetables. You can enforce options and preferences for clash checking or creating and editing events, either for the timetable as a whole or for selected users, ensuring that no matter how many people are using Timetabler, your house style can be uniform across your institution.
Timetabler also adapts to your institution by allowing you to define certain terminology, so whether you have students or pupils, sites or campuses, timetables or schedules, Timetabler is in step with the way you work.
Working with other software
You timetable is a core part of your organisation, and the software that produces it is at the heart of your IT system. Integration, therefore, is a vital concern.
Timetabler is designed with the need for integration in mind. Industry standard SQL implementation and a published data schema mean it’s easy to integrate Timetabler with your own systems. A comprehensive generic csv import and export facility and a range of bespoke solutions ensure you have a system that works together.
