CELCAT in South Africa

Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) Faculty of Education and Social Sciences.

We are pleased to welcome Cape Peninsula University of Technology, Faculty of Education and Social Sciences to our growing list of international clients. CPUT, based in Cape Town, is at the heart of higher education, technology and innovation.

Following a successful pilot of Timetabler  and related modules, the Faculty have taken the decision to invest in CELCAT Timetabler  Site Licence.

Professor Chris Dumas responsible for the pilot said, "I installed a copy [of Timetabler] for a colleague at our Wellington campus, spent about 30 minutes orientating her, and left her to get on with it. Despite feeling intimidated at first, she was suitably impressed with the program. What was most valuable to her was that the program functioned in the same way that she typically reasoned when setting up the timetable - but it made her task much easier. What was also nice was that each time she asked, 'Can it also...?' I could answer, 'Yes, it can...' "

By the end of the pilot, Professor Dumas was able to say, "for the first time ever we started the year with not one venue, group or staff clash. (Well, there were 2, but that was because the information given to me was incorrect). Our Dean was most relieved - compared to the chaos of 2010. In fact she made enquiries at the end of last year as to what was happening about the timetable - she was concerned that, as nobody was complaining, nothing was being done!"

We look forward to working with the institution over the months ahead.

Cape Town University Graduate School of Business.

Based in Green Point, Cape Town the Graduate Business School started looking for a comprehensive solution to their timetabling needs. An initial trial of CELCAT Timetabler  and optional modules proved that there was a way forward. Timetabler  will initially assist with timetabling 400 students with the potential to extend this to over 1000. After being impressed by the level of functionality and intuitive interfaces, the School has taken the decision to invest in a CELCAT Site Licence. Other additions such as lecture billing will be reviewed in due course.

We welcome the Graduate Business School to a growing user base in South Africa.

Kwa Zulu Natal University Durban

Kwa Zulu Natal is a 5-campus university based in and around central Durban. With a student population of over 35,000 it is a massive undertaking to timetable resources in an effective way. Although the University has had CELCAT software for some time, we were delighted when they made the decision to upgrade to the very latest version of Timetabler  and invest in a CELCAT Site Licence giving them more freedom to deploy the software as needed.

No doubt our partnership with Kwa Zulu Natal will assist us in developing the software further.

We plan further trips to South Africa to support our growing user base, and promote interest in CELCAT Timetabler  & Attendance software. If you would like a CELCAT Account manager to contact you please contact Adrian Gough (a.gough@celcat.com)
